Callirobics ABC, Learning Letters to Music
Helps the beginner writer recognize the letters of the alphabet through a fun, stimulating, stress-free activity. The program includes illustrations and songs thereby combining visual and auditory learning. The rresistible, and humorous cartoon-like illustrations promote visual recognition of the letters and help to develop the correct writing habits. The songs are short, funny and easy to memorize. They are a powerful tool in providing auditory association with the letters, rhythm, concentration and creativity.
In addition to the program we added a poster with the alphabet letters on one side and illustrations from the book on the other side. There are 28 magnets; one for each letter and two more to hold the poster on any magnetic board. As the students progress they add one letter at a time to the poster. This is a great manipulative aid for students who struggle with handwriting.
Heads Up Helping! by M.L. Boring - paperback
Heads Up Helping is the story of a mother’s journey as she observes her son’s special learning challenges and responds with love and dedication. Drawing on her years of experience as a speech pathologist, Melinda begins her pursuit of educational methods and materials that will help her son achieve the potential she is convinced exists. With fierce determination, Melinda sought information to help her son Joshua both accept himself and find areas in which he could excel despite his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), social difficulties, and sensory issues.
Over time, and with much experimentation, Melinda recognized which strategies, materials, and instructional approaches were most effective for her son and daughters. By becoming an astute observer and student herself, she gradually distinguished those techniques that worked most frequently out of the multitude of ideas she tried and those successes are shared in depth throughout her book.
Melinda offers practical strategies from both her personal and professional experience in helping children with auditory and visual distractibility, sensory issues, fidgeting and hyperactivity, daydreaming, and social communication difficulties. She offers teaching tips and information on how to effectively reach students in ways that are compatible with brain-based teaching techniques. The suggestions for modifying curriculum and adapting the learning environment are easily implemented and applied.
With heart-wrenching honesty and with humor, Melinda’s real-life examples reveal the trials and joys of teaching and parenting a child with challenges. Heads Up Helping is sure to be a wealth of encouragement and practical support for parents, teachers, therapists, and others who are devoted to helping all kinds of special children.

Seeing Clearly, Hickman & Hutchins
Developing healthy visual-motor abilities is more difficult in the complex stimulus of today’s world than ever before. Our visual experiences can be overwhelmed by the vast complexity of artificial colors and sounds which did not exist in our ancestors’ lives.
Much more time is spent indoors, exposed to a myriad of unnatural colors, movement and imagery. We hibernate inside, interacting with machines instead of being out in the sunlight, looking at the far horizons, exploring natural environments. More and more time is spent sitting rather than moving, watching rather than doing. Here is a book that has:
An overview of the development of vision, with a checklist of warning signs of vision problems-based on the studies of behavioral optometry
A discussion of the importance of integrating all the senses equally in the development of optimal visual skills, rooted in the field of occupational therapy
Practical, playful activities designed to improve visual skills in both adults and children. Excellent for use at home, in the clinic, at school, or amid outdoor settings

Fragile X, Fragile Hope, E Griffin
For the multitudes of parents facing the challenge of raising a child with special needs, Fragile X, Fragile Hope affirms that they can survive the
devastation of the unexpected diagnosis, the lost dreams, the confusion of treatment options, the sleep deprivation, the painful misunderstandings of
friends and family–and that more than survive, they can find a way through this chronic stress and grief back to hope and joy. Elizabeth Griffin’s
stunning, honest book shows how parents can move from profound grief to embracing parenting a special needs child.
Homeschooling the Challenging Child, C Field
Often, families will choose homeschooling because they have children who cannot cope or thrive within traditional educational environments due
to special physical or emotional needs. Homeschooling the Challenging Child addresses these special education issues, offering potential and current
homeschooling families qualified and expert advice. Experienced homeschool mom and author Christine Field will offer hope and direction
for those seeking to offer their children the best educational opportunities available.
Facing Autism, L Hamilton
Perhaps one of the most devastating things you can learn as a parent is that your child has been diagnosed with autism. A multifaceted disorder,
autism has long baffled parents and professionals alike. At one time, doctors gave parents virtually no hope for combating the disorder. But in
recent years, new treatments and therapies have demonstrated that improvement is possible. With intensive, early intervention, some children have recovered from autism and have been integrated into school, indistinguishable from their peers.
The ADHD/Autism Connection, D Kennedy
For years, the label of Autism has carried a negative connotation. Parents were afraid to admit the diagnosis and banished the term from discussion.
Finally, The ADHD-Autism Connection gives parents, educators, and doctors a reason to embrace autism with a renewed sense of hope and
understanding. This book will show how these understandings can minimize the frustration, misdiagnoses, and misunderstandings ADHD sufferers
and their families face.
Help for frustrated ADHD patients and their families. (As well as those with autism, PDD, Asperger’s syndrome, and other related conditions.)
New insights into the overwhelming number of similarities between Autism and ADHD are giving those with ADHD genuine hope.

The Friendship Factor
The Friendship Factor
Kenneth H. Rubin Ph.D.
Based on twenty-five years of research on friendship, Dr. Rubin uses case studies to highlight normal social development,
potential problems and real distress, focusing on how to distinguish between a well adjusted solitary child and a lonely child; how to
distinguish between popularity as likeability and popularity as dominance; how to respect your child’s social style, particularly if it differs
from your own; how to help an angry child be less aggressive; how to increase a child’s social ability; how to know when not to intervene
in your child’s social life, among other matters of friendship.
Kids Express Train, Imitation Station
This CD focuses on imitation at a very basic level including noises, consonant-vowels structures, single words, and
simple phrases. All songs contain the phrase, “Your turn” to give children the cue of when to imitate the words. Imitation
Station has excellent speech practice for children slightly below or above the single word level. It gives children
repetition of words many times during each song. Repetition is the key focus of this CD. Holds 13 songs
Kids Express Train, Vocalocomotion
This CD is uniquely different from the others as it has no singing. Every song is done with rhythm and instrumental
but in a speaking-rap style. It focuses on consonant-vowel imitation, single words, and simple phrases, just as Imitation
Station does, but some children may have an easier time practicing word and phrase imitation when it does not
involve singing. This CD also includes the phrase, “Your turn” to cue the children when to imitate. Holds 10 songs.
Kids Express Train, Conversation Station
This CD is packed with many simple consonant-vowel and single word practices, but it also contains more complex verbal exercises for children at the multi-syllabic word and phrase level. Other songs on this CD challenge children to understand and answer questions and make comments.
Conversation Station combines imitation practice with conversation. We eliminated the phrase, “Your turn” from this collection of songs to help children imitate without becoming cue-dependent. The conversation in these songs can be modeled during natural routines. The old favorite, Ring Around the Rosie is included in this CD, but has been re-written (Round We Go) to make it verbally within a child’s ability to sing. Holds 12 songs
Kids Express Train, Rocking & Talking
We chose these rock and roll songs (like “ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK ” or “ROCKIN’ ROBIN”) for their transformability into fun kids’ songs with kid-friendly lyrics. The goals vary for each song from simple consonant-vowel repetition, to answering WH questions, to learning the sequence and vocabulary of daily routines. Endless possibilities!
We went through the painstaking process of securing permission to adapt the lyrics of these treasured songs to help our treasured children learn. The writers and publishers of these songs were responsive to our requests and applauded this project. We couldn’t be more thrilled about this product.. Holds 12 songs
Kids Express Train, Drills on Wheels 1
Upbeat and catchy collection of simple songs, packed with imitation practice and sound blending. Excellent for any child needing speech practice – especially focuses on children with apraxia and/or phonological disorders. Each song emphasizes a particular speech sound and blends those sounds in a variety of ways including chains of sounds, consonant-vowels, words, and simple phrases. Includes practice of the following sounds: vowels, h, m, w, t, d, n, k, f, s, sh, ch, and j. The phrase “your turn” is often included to give children cues. Contains 12 songs.

Has a transparent strip of color between two strips of grey. The highlighted section aids in visual tracking and the color helps maintain attention to printed text. The straight edges can be used to neatly underline key words or phrases. The Reader is thin and flexible, and can be used as a bookmark for added convenience. One of each color: yellow, green, red, blue, orange, and pink.
Heads Up! Frame - 4 x 9, set of six
Our own creation, these frames are made of transparent colored polycarbonate with a frame printed on. You can direct attention and focus by placing the frames over workbook pages or other written materials to be examined. The frames block in key material while the color contrast helps maintain attention. These frames are especially useful for marking the place on the page for individuals who tend to look away from the page frequently. When looking back at the page they can easily and quickly find the framedin area. These frames are also useful for the child who feels overwhelmed when viewing an entire page, since the teacher can frame in just a section of the page so that it appears more manageable to the child.
Set of six colors: yellow, pink, blue, red, green, and orange.
